SERVICE

This was a task-order project from our Indefinite Quantities Contract with the Allegheny County Housing Authority.  The program called for  modifications to West View Tower apartments to bring units into compliance with Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS).  When originally constructed, the structure was built to the standard of the time and units had been “grandfathered” by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) on accessibility issues, but were not in compliance with current standards.  This project brought the necessary improvements to bring the original designated units into UFAS compliance.

Nine (9) units were improved with work including but not limited to, the following: selective demolition, structural alterations, new interior partitions, new kitchen and bathroom cabinetry, fixtures and fittings, installation of new doors, new wall, floor, and ceiling finishes throughout the units, and related mechanical, plumbing, and electrical alterations.

Prior to the end of the project, the client requested additional scope to include: re-sizing the corridor make-up air unit, to provide Air Conditioning within the (11) eleven story building corridors; site concrete and accessible ramps provided off-site near bus stop area
