Arsenal Park is an historic site within Pittsburgh which required us to coordinate design solutions with the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office. The Allegheny Arsenal was established in 1814 during the War of 1812 and operated as a military facility where the manufacturing and storage of ammunition, weapons and other military equipment until 1926. During the American Civil War the arsenal served as a critical supply center for the Union Army where, in 1862, an accidental explosion claimed the lives of 78 workers. In its later years it still served as a storage depot for cannonballs which were later buried at this location. Graves Design Group is the architectural consultant to PASHEK +MTR for the design of a new pavilion with family restroom facility, as part of Phase 1 improvements to Arsenal Park in Lawrenceville neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

Phase I improvements provided A/E services for the picnic shelter (open air pavilion) that included (2) two Family Accessible Restroom(s) and (1) one ADA compliant exterior water fountain, and mechanical room, in coordination with the prime’s overall landscape and park improvements.
