RITE-AID Pharmacy: Homewood-Brushton Mini-Mall Retail Architecture

- Location: Pittsburgh, PA
- Owner: HBRDC
- Size: 16,000 S. F.
This project was the most significant new retail project to come to Homewood, in many years. It was a significant component in a plan to revitalize the neighborhood. We prepared a feasibility study for an economic development team for this two-phase mini-mall center that would contain an 8,000 s.f Rite Aid Pharmacy as the main tenant, in the first phase. An additional 8,000 s.f. would be provided on a lower level, in phase two. The lower level space was to serve as office space for community social services.
The project required the elimination of a street connection, at the rear of the building, to make room for the pedestrian plaza and access ramp that served the lower level. Other site amenities included a 20 pace parking lot, planters, and bus/taxi shelters.
